Alist/UnaVoz Troupe are youth-driven, bilingual, peer education programs developed to prevent substance use, underage drinking, and other unhealthy behaviors among adolescents in Miami-Dade County. These programs are comprised of youth ages 14-17 and uses interactive theatrical performances and other forms of creative expression to educate other youth about high risk behaviors, increase self-esteem, build resiliency skills, and create overall healthier communities. The program consists of three parts: PERFORMANCE – REALITY WORKSHOP – SKILL-BUILDING WORKSHOP. These programs target adolescents who currently do not require treatment for alcohol and drugs problems, but may be at risk for such problems based on their present activities. If the adolescent displays risk behaviors than he/she will be referred to an intervention known as Teen Intervene.
